Associate to the Director — Koru Impact LLC
Koru Impact
Istanbul (hybrid)
• Part-time
• 6-month defined term
• Performance-linked, no fixed fee We are a Qatar Financial Centre-registered advisory firm working on a narrow problem: regulators across the Gulf and Europe now require institutions to prove how their governance decisions were made, and most institutions cannot. We build the evidence systems that close that gap — sustainability reporting under the ISSB standards, AI governance under the EU AI Act and Qatar Central Bank guidance, and a decision-audit platform that runs on-premise so client data never leaves the institution. We are pre-revenue. We are small. The Director works from Istanbul; colleagues work from Doha, Brussels, Waterford, Ankara, and Lahore. We are looking for a generalist. We mean that literally. If your plan is to become the best in Türkiye at one thing, this is the wrong role and we will both know it by week three. We need someone who will write a market brief in the morning, rebuild a slide sequence at lunch, chase a stalled introduction in the afternoon, and stay up reading about how model evaluations work because it came up in a client conversation and they refuse to be the person who didn't understand it. The range is the job. Depth comes later, and it comes from having seen the whole thing first. We work AI-first. This is not a line in an advertisement. Every research task, first draft, list, analysis, and summary here passes through AI systems before a human touches it. We run several models against the same problem and reconcile where they disagree, because the disagreement is usually where the interesting thing is. Our platform is itself an AI system built for institutions that have to prove their reasoning. The standard is simple in both directions: do not hand in work that an AI could have done better, and do not hand in work that an AI did alone. You do not need to arrive fluent. You need to arrive with the instinct — the person who, on hitting a task, asks first whether it should be done by hand at all. If you are already building small tools for yourself, running your own reading through models, or arguing with them about their answers, you are the person we are describing. What you would actually do The Director's time. You would own the calendar. Not assist with it — own it. Which meetings happen, when, in what sequence, and increasingly which conversations are worth having at all. You would decide what reaches the Director and what you handle yourself. You will get some of those calls wrong, which is expected and survivable. What is not survivable is being unable to explain afterward how you reached them. Communications. You would draft and send a large share of what leaves this firm — notes to colleagues across five countries, replies to institutional contacts, follow-ups with partners and external counsel, meeting agendas, and the record of what was actually decided. Some of it goes out under your name and some under the Director's. You would also be the person who notices that a conversation has been silent for eleven days and does something about it without being asked. Commercial. Research and qualify institutions across the Gulf, Türkiye, and Europe. Build and run outbound sequences to named decision-makers — chief risk officers, chief compliance officers, heads of sustainability. Track the pipeline and keep it honest. Prepare materials for institutional conversations and sit in those conversations from your first month. Digital marketing. Our LinkedIn work runs several posts a week, carousel-first, with a tight engagement window after publication that decides whether a post travels. You would produce and schedule that content, design the carousels, run the newsletter, work on the website and its search visibility alongside our developer, set up targeted advertising against specific professional audiences, and report what the numbers actually say rather than what we hoped. Delivery. Once engagements are live, you work on them — research, analysis, drafting, client materials. This is not shadow work. Hours on client engagements are recorded and compensated on the same basis as everyone else's. Build. Use AI systems to remove work that nobody should be doing by hand — research summarization, list building, document preparation, first-pass drafting. If you can prototype something small that works, we would rather have that than a proposal about it. What we are looking for A recent graduate — management, computer science, psychology, design, marketing, or an administrative discipline. What you studied matters less than this: You communicate without being chased. Silence is the one habit that does not survive here. If something has gone wrong, we want to hear it from you first and early. You take decisions rather than request them. We will give you scope and context, not instructions. If you find yourself waiting to be told, this will be uncomfortable for both of us. You can account for your reasoning. Initiative without explanation is just unpredictability. When you make a call, we expect you to say what you knew, what you weighed, and why you chose as you did — before anyone asks, and without defensiveness when it turns out badly. We would rather have a wrong decision you can explain than a right one you cannot. You write clearly in English and Turkish , and you have visual taste you can prove. You move things forward while nobody is watching. We work across six time zones; the work does not stop when one person's day does. Not because we demand availability — because you want the thing to land. You change your mind when the evidence changes, and you say so out loud. You teach yourself hard technical material because you want to. How you would be paid There is no salary and no fixed fee. You would join as a partner in our professional community and invoice us as an independent business — the same footing as every colleague here, including people with twenty years of experience. Here is exactly how it works. When a client pays us, the receipt splits. A defined share funds the firm's operating costs — infrastructure, professional indemnity insurance, marketing, administration. The larger share, between 55 and 70 percent depending on the type of engagement, goes into the partner compensation pool. That pool is distributed among everyone with recorded hours on any live engagement, in proportion to hours weighted by contribution tier. You would enter at the entry tier. A further portion is held back and released as a bonus when an engagement meets the objectives it was contracted to meet. Two features matter for someone starting out. You earn from the pool for hours on any active engagement — not only the ones you brought in. And if you originate an engagement yourself — you find it, you shape it, you get it signed — you receive an origination premium of five percent on top of your pool share, paid from the firm's side and not deducted from anyone else's. To make it concrete: on a $30,000 monthly retainer receipt, the pool is $18,000. Someone at entry tier with 60 recorded hours in that period, working alongside a delivery group of four, would receive roughly $1,300 from that single receipt. A second engagement running in parallel adds to it. What we are honest about All of that arithmetic depends on a signed engagement, and we have not closed our first one. Distributions are made only from cleared client funds — we do not pay against unpaid invoices. You should assume you earn nothing for the first several months and plan your circumstances accordingly. Hours on client engagements are billable and earn a share. Hours on firm-building — the calendar, the campaign, research not attached to a live engagement — are not. In the early months most of your hours will be the second kind. We will be straight with you every week about which is which, because you cannot make good decisions about your own time otherwise. Setting up as an independent business in Türkiye carries a mandatory social security cost of roughly 10,500 TL per month, which you would bear. We are telling you this because you would find it out anyway, and we would rather you decide with the real numbers in front of you. There is no equity in this role and none is contemplated. Contributors to our platform work may become eligible for a documented share of future product revenue under our published royalty terms; that instrument is real, it is also conditional, and we will show you the actual terms before you decide anything. What you would get regardless Working command of AI systems at professional depth — not prompt tricks, but how to orchestrate several models against a hard problem, how to check their output, where they fail, and how to build small tools that hold. Six months of doing that daily against real institutional work is worth more than any course. Named credit on work that goes to institutional clients and regulators. A reference from the Director. Direct exposure to how a regulated advisory firm is built, at the stage where the decisions are still being made. And six months of range that would take three years to accumulate inside a large firm. How to apply Write to apply@koruimpact.org . Do not send a cover letter. Instead, pick two of these and answer it in under 400 words: What is one thing an AI system should never be trusted to decide alone, and how would you prove it wasn't? Find a public sustainability or AI governance disclosure from any Gulf or European institution. Tell us what is missing from it. Here is our LinkedIn page. Tell us what you would change and why — be specific and be unkind. Describe a decision you made without permission that you would make again. Then describe one you would not. Use AI to help you write it. We assume you will. Tell us how you used it — that answer interests us more than the polish. Attach anything you have made. Code, designs, writing, a campaign you ran, a tool you built for yourself, a spreadsheet you were unreasonably proud of. We read everything.
