# INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS SPECIALIST

U.S. Pacific Fleet

You will serve as an INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS SPECIALIST in the COMSUBRON 3. The location for this position is Garden Island, Australia. You will serve as a non-supervisory action officer-level liaison and coordinator.
You will assist the Director with maintaining relations with Australia agencies; assisting with cultural, diplomatic and military protocol; performing research, production, and dissemination of Australia-related reports and assessments.
You will maintain contacts and conducting coordination with action officer-level staff within Government of Australia, US Embassy Australia and other host nation and U.S. military organizations.
You will perform protocol functions including providing input as subject matter expert in international relations and planning logistics for Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program related outreach events including official travel.
You will establish political accommodation of nuclear-powered warship forward deployment to Australia and port visits.
You will provide support through political, economic, and social analyses, and studies involving complex variables.
You will provide supervision, oversight and guidance to visiting support personnel.
You will monitor Australia civil policies/developments, attitudes, develop and propose policy and solutions.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience coordinating and negotiating naval nuclear propulsion program emergency preparedness and response (EPR) policies, bilateral agreements, and/or joint exercises with foreign government agencies, allied military partners, and/or local civil authorities; advising on and facilitating interoperability initiatives between U.S. and coalition emergency response personnel; planning and evaluating multinational radiological emergency response and All-Hazards exercises; and integrating diplomatic protocols, host-nation sensitivities, and coalition command and control principles to ensure U.S. and allied nuclear-powered warships operate securely and cooperatively in overseas environments. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Basic Requirements Completed a bachelor's or high degree with a major or equivalent, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities; or 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods. or 2. Combination of education and experience: with courses equivalent to a major that included at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities, plus four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs or additional education; or 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods, plus addition education or appropriate experience gained through residence, study, teaching, business or commercial activities, military service, newspaper work, military or civil government activities, missionary or inter-national relief work, or other experience in foreign countries. (Experience may also have been gained through teaching college-level courses in international relations or problems associated with a specific foreign geographic area). or 3. Experience: four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields listed above in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs.
