Environmental Protection Specialist

You will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist with the Regional Office Serving Interior Regions 6, 7, & 8. This announcement is open to career transition eligibles (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL) ONLY. Provides technical guidance and support for environmental protection and compliance programs and assists organizations in meeting applicable environmental requirements. Plans, coordinates, and oversees environmental projects and initiatives to address environmental protection, compliance, resource conservation, and operational needs. Evaluates environmental programs, projects, contracts, and related information; coordinates with parks, partners, and other stakeholders to address issues and improve program effectiveness. Coordinates program resources, funding, agreements, reporting, and performance activities to accomplish environmental program objectives. Supports and monitors environmental contracts, assessments, audits, and related projects, including serving as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience Requirement: To qualify, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes providing technical guidance on environmental programs or issues; planning, coordinating, and evaluating environmental projects or activities; analyzing environmental information and recommending solutions to environmental problems; or coordinating environmental programs, resources, and partnerships to accomplish program objectives and ensure compliance with applicable requirements. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
