# INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (NETWORK)

Defense Security Cooperation Agency

This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating methods, techniques, and/or procedures designed to improve overall efficiency and operations.
As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (NETWORK) at the GS-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Provides technical oversight for teams of government and contractor IT specialists involved in problem resolution Serves as the subject matter expert in designing and administrating on-prem and cloud based network infrastructure (e.g., Cisco, Dell, Palo Alto). Upholds standards, cleanliness, and monitors daily status of local on-prem data center Develops and enforces system security baselines while performing comprehensive system hardening in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards. Maintains expert-level knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and implements efficient processes to ensure continuous STIG compliance across multiple systems and platforms. Manages the lifecycle of security patches by tracking, analyzing, and reporting installation status, ensuring timely remediation of vulnerabilities. Conducts system scans, audits, and compliance reviews to assess adherence to DoD cybersecurity requirements and mitigate risk. Provides expert-level technical guidance, analysis, and troubleshooting for highly complex (Level III) operational issues impacting enterprise systems; isolates, identifies, analyzes, evaluates, and resolves advanced hardware, software, and network communication problems, ensuring minimal disruption to mission-critical operations.
You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Serving as a technical subject matter expert for network system security, specifically in the area of on-prem and cloud-based network infrastructure and software support with specific focus on system vulnerability management Develops system procedures to ensure systems reliability and to defend against unauthorized access Provides service and support for system security by developing baselines and performing security hardening Keeps up to date with the latest Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and develops efficient and effective methods for maintaining STIG compliance Manages, tracks and reports the status of the installation of security patches Performs system scans and reviews to ensure compliance with DoD requirements. Provides technical guidance, analysis, advice, and troubleshooting/problem resolution on a wide range of extremely complex operational problems (Level Ill) that impact DSCA enterprise operations Isolate, identify, analyze, evaluate, and resolve complex hardware, software and/or communications problems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
