# Supervisory Security Specialist

National Nuclear Security Administration

This position is located in the Office of Secure Transportation (OST), Office of Technical Services (OTS), Safety and Security Division (SSD), Testing and Analysis Branch (TAB), and serves as a Supervisory Security Specialist (Secondary) in support of the OST mission. The incumbent Provides technical and supervisory leadership for TSS safeguards and security activities, including vulnerability assessments, Site Security Plans, performance evaluations, and related security operations.
As a Supervisory Security Specialist (Secondary), you will: Lead and oversee security programs that protect nuclear materials, sensitive information, personnel, facilities, and critical assets from security threats. Supervise staff, provide technical guidance, set priorities, evaluate performance, and ensure security activities meet established requirements. Lead vulnerability and risk assessments, develop and maintain site security plans, identify security weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions. Develop and evaluate protective response plans, security exercises, performance tests, policies, procedures, and training to strengthen security readiness. Advise senior leaders on security risks and improvements, and lead inspections and evaluations to assess the effectiveness of security programs and protective measures.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified applicant must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the NV-03 NQ-02 pay band or GS-12 level as described in the vacancy announcement under specialized experience requirements. Must have 3 years previous experience in a primary position as a Nuclear Materials Courier. Examples of Specialized Experience: Planning, conducting, analyzing, or evaluating Force-on-Force exercises, Limited Scope Performance Tests, tabletop exercises, or other security performance evaluation activities. Applying Federal laws, Agency policies, OST policies and procedures, Performance Assurance Program requirements, Federal Agent Standard Operating Procedures, and Mission Essential Task List requirements to evaluate safeguards and security operations. Analyzing security vulnerabilities, performance results, or operational information and developing findings, recommendations, or corrective actions. Providing technical direction, coordinating the work of others, or leading security or vulnerability assessment activities involving multiple participants or organizational elements. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

May be required to successfully complete a one (1) year supervisory probationary period.
