Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Design Engineer to support a project focused on improving how advanced AI systems understand mechanical design and production-ready engineering workflows. You will create and review parametric CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and technical documentation using FreeCAD or a comparable platform. The role requires practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing. Previous AI experience is not required. CONTRACT: Contractor COMMITMENT: Hourly/Part-time LOCATION: Remote PROCESS: Application Form -> AI Interview -> Selection Responsibilities Create and modify parametric 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies Produce manufacturing-ready drawings with GD&T and tolerance specifications Design components for CNC machining, sheet metal, plastics, and injection molding Review CAD models for dimensional accuracy and manufacturability Perform tolerance stack-up and basic design validation Prepare assembly instructions and technical reference documentation Identify design issues and recommend practical improvements Revise models and documentation based on technical feedback Requirements At least 2 years of experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing Strong proficiency in FreeCAD or another parametric CAD platform Experience producing production-ready parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing principles Experience designing for at least two of the following: CNC machining, sheet metal, plastics, or injection molding
