Unit Clerk - Full Time

The Unit Secretary provides clerical support for the patient care area under the guidance and direction of the nursing staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs all clerical functions. Exhibits good organizational, time management and teamwork skills, which contribute to the management and efficient operation of the unit. Keeps charts neat, files reports on charts, places patient identification stickers on chart documents Acts as a focus of communication in the nursing station regarding all unit patient care activities to ensure efficient coordination of the unit activities. Enters physician orders into the computer system. Prints out order verification for RN review. Creates and runs reports as needed Takes and relays telephone messages accurately using good telephone etiquette Reports issues and suggestions for improvement of process to Nurse Manager Thins charts as needed, and keeps records in a secured location Calls in emergency codes number as directed by RN or physician Serves as department EMR super user, providing support to attending physicians and assisting in training of new employee(s) as Unit Clerk Other duties as assigned Requirements: High School diploma required With 1-2 years related experience, hospital setting preferred, knowledge of EMR and Medical Terminology a plus Shift: 8:00am • 4:30pm with rotating weekends/holidays With good customer service and communication skills Computer savvy We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and a member of the Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces.
