The primary purpose of this position is to lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full-time and continuing basis. Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensure that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards. • Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers. On a regular and recurring basis, utilizes trades and/or labor knowledge and skill to lead a team of three or more workers in performance of various related work. • Performs work. performs nonsupervisory trades and/or labor that is usually Of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led. • Leads three or more workers utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and an exceptional degree of reasoning to troubleshoot, repair. and maintain complex secondary electrical distribution systems, Lightning protection Systems. and integrated electronics. • Leads work crews in the installation. modification. testing. replacement and maintenance Of transformers, high. medium and low voltage, and circuit breakers. • Leads work crews in maintaining a safe, hazard-free environment by strictly enforcing occupational safety regulations, environmental compliance, proper PPE utilization, and safe motor vehicle operations. In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800 • Electrical Installation And Maintenance Family. . Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Working knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes. and techniques of trade. technical practices in order to interpret drawings, plan, layout, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of electrical systems, and of regulations, procedures, and policies related to maintenance and documentation. 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practlces, and procedures, 3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and equipment common to trades and labor work performed by the group being led. 4. Demonstrates exceptional hands-on skill and technical proficiency in performing and directing the specialized trade work of the electrical maintenance unit. Proven ability to execute, oversee, and troubleshoot complex operations involving Lightning Protection Systems, high, medium, and low-voltage distribution systems, as well as industrial motors and control systems. 5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Physical Effort:: The work requires regular and moderate-to-heavy physical exertion, The employee frequently performs moderately heavy lifting. pulling, and carrying Of equipment and materials weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds) independently. Occasionally, the incumbent is required to lift or pull heavy cables and equipment weighing in excess of 23 kilograms (50pounds) utilizing weight-handling equipment or with the assistance of other workers. The duties demand prolonged standing, as well as frequent bending, stooping, and climbing. At times, the employee must perform tasks in awkward positions and restricted or confined spaces where precise physical coordination, balance, and manual dexterity of the hands, legs, and body are required. Working Conditions: The incumbent works in both indoor and outdoor environments, With frequent exposure to high temperatures, intense noise, and vibrations in mechanical and electrical rooms, as well as extreme weather conditions when operating outdoors. Working conditions within mechanical and electrical spaces frequently involve wet or slippery surfaces, poor illumination, unpleasant odors, gases, fumes, and contact with oils, lubricants, and chemical cleaning agents. The nature of the work presents inherent operational hazards, subjecting the employee to potential electrical shocks, burns, chemical irritation, bruises, and strains. Duties regularly involve working from bucket trucks, climbing ladders, and operating on or around high-speed rotating machinery and energized electrical equipment. TO mitigate these risks. the employee is required to strictly adhere to safety protocols and utilize specialized personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, protective eyewear, arc flash gear, insulated gloves, hearing protection, and any other equipment deemed necessary for specific environmental conditions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
