# Chartering & Freight Operations Manager

The successful candidate will be working with highly driven and engaged international team of traders for steel and raw materials. The job will be based in Istanbul, in a great location. The Chartering Manager will keep in constant contact with brokers, charterers and owners and will be using industry leading systems and methodology to enhance its performance. The role covers international chartering activities across various vessel sizes, from small coasters up to Panamax-size vessels, depending on cargo requirements. Needs to advise their experience of geographic markets, where they have been involved. Will also show experience of voyage preferably time chartering operations. Detailed knowledge of charter parties. Knowledge of P&I club as well as Charterers liability insurance. Responsibilities and Duties Responsible for the chartering of all freight requirements for Vilmeks Group of companies by either Voyage or Time Charter Maximize earnings of the chartering business by finding competitive freight rates. Management of freight payments and vessel nominations Issuing bill of lading, operations, logistics, and the post fixture including settlements of Demurrage/Dispatch with owners, shippers, receivers Negotiating charter parties with charterers Owners /operators/brokers; Support the Traders team with freight market information Liaising with shippers/receivers and vessels in relation to load/discharge operations Inspecting cargoes/vessel Assisting and arranging draft surveys Assisting with contract negotiations for all related services, including co-ordination and application of governing trade contracts Responsible for the handling of disputes and arbitration Reporting to traders with up-to-date information regarding current freight, trends and freight forecast, port situation, congestion, delays, obtaining freight indications, evaluating freight requirements Management of chartering book where all fixtures are logged and analyzed Ensuring customer expectations are met in full To manage and appraise the team Traveling to conferences and/or shipping events Skills and Competencies Excellent chartering knowledge and experience Strong organization, communication and negotiation skills Good sound knowledge of shipping documentation Excellent attention to detail Numerate and computer literate to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Organized, flexible and self-motivated team player who has the discipline to work along and meet pre-defined deadlines Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging environment Ability to work effectively under pressure Ability to use initiative and problem solve Determination to grow within the business Job Requirements Minimum of 5 year of experience in dry bulk chartering Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in dry bulk / general cargo chartering .
