About the Position: Serves as a first level Supervisory Store Associate in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily. Directs and controls the operations and personnel of the commissary front end customer service department. Modifies schedules based on personnel capabilities, planned and emergency leave schedules, and position vacancies. Monitors and supervises all register transactions. Ensures new personnel receive proper orientation and ensures on-the-job training is provided. Personally, conducts or oversees cash pickups at various times during the work day. Responds to customer questions and issues. Reviews financial reports related to cash accountability and enforces procedures for control and protection of commissary funds. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience is defined as: 1) Plans, directs, and assigns work for store employees; 2) Utilizes automated systems to generate report; AND 3) Provides instructions and on-the-job training for new workers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-05). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Conflict Management Customer Service Developing Others Special Note for Military Members MILITARY RETIREES: A retired member of the Armed Forces may not be appointed to a civilian position in DoD (including a non-appropriated fund position) within 180 days after retirement [ unless the following conditions have been met: the Secretary concerned authorizes the appointment; or the position is authorized special pay under 5 U.S.C. 5305; or a state of national emergency exists]. MILITARY SEPARATED (NON-RETIREE): Military members may be appointed while on terminal leave, before the effective date of their military separation. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
