SECURITY SPECIALIST

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Department of Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD . You will carry out security specialist assignments and projects as assigned. You will assist senior security specialists with conducting security inspections, programs, services, or activities. You will advise visitors, faculty, staff, students, managers, and external individuals on assigned security programs and services You will compose a variety of technical and statistical correspondence, reports, forms, and memoranda. You will utilize word processing software and office automation equipment to draft documents from notes or rough drafts You will assist higher-graded employees with their assigned duties. You will support the management and control of Personnel, Physical, Information, Information Systems, and Industrial Security Programs. You will adhere strictly to Executive Orders, Department of Defense Directives, and USU Instructions as directed. You will ensure all work is submitted for review to verify technical adequacy and compliance with instructions. You will assist the senior security specialist and staff in administering personnel, physical, information, and industrial security functional areas. You will support related programs including parking, visitor and property control, counterintelligence, controlled substance protection, emergency evacuation, law enforcement liaison, and security training. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector showing experience assisting in the administration, implementation, and execution of personnel, physical, information, and industrial security programs for military, civilian, and contractor personnel. This experience includes supporting senior staff with security inspections, conducting security training and awareness, and managing operational programs such as visitor and property control. Additionally, I possess experience utilizing office automation software and equipment to draft technical reports, official memoranda, and statistical correspondence. • OR • Have a combination of education and experience that equates to one year of experience. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector independently administering, implementing, and executing comprehensive personnel, physical, information, and industrial security programs for military, civilian, and contractor personnel. This experience includes planning and conducting security inspections, delivering security training, and exercising independent judgment to interpret, select, and apply complex federal security regulations to resolve non-routine issues. Additionally, candidates must have experience authoring technical reports and official policy memoranda, managing security operations with minimal supervision, and delivering finished deliverables that require review for overall alignment with organizational objectives. • OR- Have a combination of education and experience that equates to one year of experience.
