Marketing Director

Amy's Ice Creams

Position Summary The Marketing Director owns overall marketing and brand strategy across Amy’s Ice Creams and Phil’s Icehouse, along with the marketing budget and its performance. This is a working director role. Alongside the strategic ownership, the Marketing Director remains highly involved in execution, producing the majority of the company’s design work and leading creative direction, campaign development, and content. The Marketing Director leads a team of two, sets the standard for the work across both brands, and holds the company’s outside relationships across vendors, press, partners, and creators. Key Responsibilities • Brand & Marketing Strategy: Own marketing and brand strategy across both brands, maintain brand standards, and serve as final approver on customer-facing materials. • Campaign Strategy & Direction: Build and own the annual campaign calendar, set campaign and creative direction, and coordinate timing with Operations and Production. • Creative & Design: Produce the majority of in-house design work, manage creative request intake, and lead creative direction across all brand output. • In-Store Signage & Materials: Own the look, quality, and standard of signage and marketing materials in every store, including design, print, and rollout for new offerings and ongoing operations. Partner with Operations and GMs on what goes up, when it goes up, and how it gets maintained, and give them a clear path to request what they need for their location. • Social & Owned Channels: Own the social calendar, cadence, and platform mix for both brands, and set the standard for content and community management. • Email Marketing: Own the email program across both brands, including strategy, calendar, and results. • Website & Search: Own both brand websites, including content, accuracy, functionality, SEO, and location pages, along with local search presence and review platforms. • E-Commerce & Merchandise: Own the brand and marketing side of e-commerce and merchandise, including the online store experience, merch design and assortment, promotions, and seasonal launches, in partnership with the E-Commerce Manager. • Paid Media: Own paid media strategy and spend across channels, including paid social, search, audience strategy, and creative, along with marketing on third-party delivery platforms. • Traditional & Local Marketing: Manage print, outdoor, radio, direct mail, and in- market presence, including marketing for new store openings and remodels. • Budget & Performance: Own the marketing and advertising budget, track campaign and channel performance against sales, and report results in terms leadership can act on. • Growth Initiatives: Identify and lead marketing-driven growth initiatives, including new revenue channels and product launches. • Partnerships & Community: Represent the brands in community, school, and local business partnerships, and own the direction of programs like Scoop Up Success. • External Relationships: Own vendor relationships across creative, media, print, and production, and serve as a primary press and media contact for both brands. • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the marketing team, manage workload across two brands, and decide what the team takes on versus what stays with the Director. • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Great Fit • 5+ years of marketing experience with progressive responsibility, including managing people. • Ownership of brand and marketing strategy across multiple locations, channels, or brands. • Hands-on design capability, with real fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud and the print production process. • Experience running a marketing budget and managing paid media against results. • Fluency across social platforms, email marketing, and creator partnerships. • Working knowledge of a website CMS (WordPress), Shopify, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Business Profile, and Google Workspace. • Ability to read the numbers, say what they mean, and change the plan accordingly. • Strong written and verbal communication, including copywriting. Good Fit • Multi-unit restaurant, food and beverage, or CPG experience. • Experience marketing more than one brand at the same time. • Short-form video editing for social, whether Premiere, CapCut, or similar. • Canva for fast-turnaround projects. • Project management tools such as Monday. • Established press, media, and creator relationships. • Knowledge of the Austin market and its media, events, and neighborhoods.
