Security Specialist (Cyber)

About the Position: The incumbent works under the general direction of the HQDA Chief of Staff Army, Army Special Programs Directorate, Washington, D.C. Establish cyber security organizational goals, objectives, plans, and implementation strategies related to Army Special Program Directorate (ASPD) IT support requirements. Serve as a Cyber Security advisor for ASPD and Programs on security risks and the possible integration of emerging security technology to offset identified risks. Monitor Federal Law and Executive Agency Policy/Publications for impact to ASPD cyber security (CS) program to ensure procedures and guidelines comply with cybersecurity policies. Translate IT requirements into SoW/PWS change requests for staffing and contract modification by Contracting Officer as applicable and provide supporting documentation in support of ASPD’s mission. Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes applying cybersecurity policies and principles (e.g. Joint SAP Implementation guide JSIG)) to support IT systems within Special Access Program (SAP) or other classified environments, assisting in the assessment of security controls or vulnerability scans for information systems and monitoring IT systems and networks to ensure compliance with established cybersecurity requirements and safeguards. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Specialized Experience GS-14: One year specialized experience which includes developing cybersecurity policies, plans, and strategies for Special Access Program (SAP) or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) information systems, serving as a subject matter expert on cybersecurity risk management, providing authoritative advice on threats, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures, and leading the implementation and validation of security controls and overseeing the certification and accreditation process for complex, classified networks including SAP networks. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12/13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
