Materials Handler

The incumbent serves as a Materials Handler at the NIH Clinical Center's offsite warehouse. The materials that the incumbent handles are predominantly medical and surgical supplies. Some of these supplies require specialized storage such as temperature and humidity sensitive storage. They will also assist in developing plans for the storage and arrangement of stock in accordance with agency regulations which determine configuration setup, movement, rearrangement and traffic flow. Overseeing an assigned segment of the warehouse. On own initiative, consolidates materials and provides maximum space utilization and protection of materials for assigned segment. Operating large material handling equipment (MHE) items including cargo trucks, motorized pallet jacks, order pickers, and forklifts. Responsible for incoming and outcoming shipments and placement of materials with the docking area in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements and space allocations. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position.
