About The Role Tassel is seeking a VP of Finance who combines strong financial judgment with the technical and analytical ability to build a modern finance function. This is not the CFO of the 1990s or 2000s. We are not looking for someone whose answer to every question is another spreadsheet, more headcount, or a longer monthly close. We want a finance leader who is deeply fluent in AI, data, automation, and systems. Someone who can connect APIs, build reliable reporting, interrogate data directly, automate manual workflows, and turn financial information into faster, better business decisions. You will own finance, forecasting, reporting, cash management, strategic analysis, and financial operations while building an AI-native finance playbook that scales with the company. We do not care whether you have an MBA. We care whether you have helped a business grow, improved its financial performance, and built systems that produce real results. What You’ll Do Own forecasting, budgeting, cash planning, reporting, and financial strategy Build real-time visibility into revenue, expenses, margins, retention, pipeline, and cash Replace manual spreadsheet-driven processes with automated, connected systems Use AI and data tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, scenario planning, and decision-making Work directly with APIs and operational data across finance, sales, product, and customer systems Build models that help the company make better pricing, hiring, investment, and growth decisions Partner with the CEO and leadership team on performance, accountability, and resource allocation Own financial operations, including billing, collections, accounts payable, and close Improve the speed, accuracy, and usefulness of financial reporting Develop an AI-native finance playbook that can scale without building a bloated finance team You Might Be a Fit If 6+ years of experience in finance, strategic finance, FP&A, or financial operations, including 3+ years owning or leading the finance function at a growth-stage company. You are a finance leader who is also an exceptional data analyst You are comfortable working with APIs, databases, BI tools, automation platforms, and AI agents You can move from raw data to a clear business recommendation without waiting on someone else You have built automated financial reporting and operational workflows You understand SaaS metrics, recurring revenue, retention, margins, cash flow, and growth economics You have helped a profitable or growth-stage company improve performance You are more interested in outcomes than process for process’s sake You question legacy finance practices and actively look for better ways to work You can communicate financial information simply and hold leaders accountable to results You are comfortable being hands-on while also operating as a strategic executive You use AI to increase speed and analytical depth without outsourcing judgment
