Project Coordinator

Project Coordinator at the Koç University Sevgi Gönül Center for Byzantine Studies (GABAM), Istanbul, Türkiye Koç University invites applications for the fulltime position of Project Coordinator at the Koç University Sevgi Gönül Center for Byzantine Studies (GABAM). Candidates are expected to work 5 days a week on the Rumelifeneri Campus without hybrid or remote option. Candidates should hold a PhD degree at the time of application, and, preferably, focus on Late Antique and Byzantine archaeology. Candidates with strong experience in archaeological fieldwork in Türkiye, cultural heritage management, and museum studies are particularly encouraged to apply. An advanced level in both English and Turkish is a requirement. Successful candidates are expected to maintain and develop existing GABAM projects and contribute to the development of new research initiatives concerning Late Antique and Byzantine archaeology, architecture, and other aspects of material culture. Besides, as part of the GABAM team, they will identify national and international funding opportunities for the Center and be actively involved in grant writing. Moreover, they will coordinate lecture series, workshops, and conferences, as well as ongoing and new GABAM publications and digital projects. Furthermore, they will have a connecting role between the academic world and governmental bodies and cultural institutes. Founded as the Koç University Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies in 2015 and known as the Koç University Sevgi Gönül Center for Byzantine studies since 2023, GABAM is the first research center dedicated to Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at a foundation university in Türkiye. The medium of instruction at Koç University is English.
