About Ironstone Ironstone is an AI product startup in Maslak, İstanbul. We build consumer apps for learning, wellbeing and everyday utility, and we're now building our main project: a new SaaS platform for businesses. We're hiring our first team, so the people who join now shape what we build and how we build it. What we’re building We’re building an AI-first platform that helps businesses turn what they already have into finished, high-quality work in minutes instead of weeks. Under the hood it runs on a pipeline of AI models, automated quality checks and media processing. The interesting problems are in that pipeline: orchestrating models at scale, judging AI output automatically, and making the results reliable enough for businesses to use as-is. We don’t talk about the specifics publicly yet; we will on the intro call. About the role You’ll be engineer number one and our technical lead, working directly with the founder. This is a hands-on role: you’ll write code and ship features every day, building the architecture, data model, web app, AI pipelines and AWS infrastructure yourself. Alongside the building, you’ll play a leading role in architecture and tool planning, including which vendors and services we use, set the engineering standards the team builds on, and manage the technical side of the project day to day. What you’ll do Build the web app with Next.js (App Router), React and TypeScript, using Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui. Design the data model and APIs on Supabase (Postgres, Auth, row-level security, Realtime) with Drizzle. Build durable background workflows on AWS (Step Functions, Lambda, SQS) that orchestrate AI models, with retries, queues and webhooks done properly. Integrate language, image and video models behind a clean provider layer, so we can switch models without touching the product. Build automated quality gates that score generated images and video before users see them. Build video and image finishing (rendering, captions, resizing) and delivery through S3 and CloudFront. Implement usage-based billing on an auditable, append-only credit ledger. Set up CI/CD, preview environments, infrastructure as code (AWS CDK), monitoring (Sentry) and product analytics (PostHog). Plan the architecture and tooling together with the founder, and document the decisions so the team can move fast. Manage the project’s technical work: plan the sprints, set priorities, review code and keep delivery on track. What we look for 3+ years building production web applications, including owning the architecture of at least one production system built on background jobs or workflows. Strong TypeScript, React and Next.js. Solid Postgres and API design: schemas, migrations, auth and access control. Solid knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, AWS, Google Cloud or another major cloud platform. Comfortable debugging distributed systems: a stuck workflow, a failed webhook, a queue that backs up. You’ve shipped AI features to real users and know where they break. You use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor or similar) daily and can show how they make you faster without making your code worse. You’ve led technical projects, reviewed other people’s code or mentored engineers as part of your job. Good written and spoken English. Nice to have Supabase, AWS Step Functions or other workflow engines. Programmatic video and image processing (FFmpeg, Remotion, HyperFrames or similar). Generative image or video models in production, or computer-vision checks on generated media. LLM evaluation and prompt engineering. MCP servers, OAuth 2.1 or building integrations with AI assistants. Payments and subscriptions (Paddle, Stripe).
